William White - Government Manager
William White is the latest addition to the CAIR team in Texas. He was hired as the Government Affairs Manager to encourage civic engagement, build bridges with elected officials, and politically empower the Texas Muslim community.
William was born in London, England, to a British Australian father and Irish Texan mother. His family moved to Texas when he was one year old. His family settled in West Houston, the world's energy capital, where he and his brother grew up as native Houstonians.
At the age of 20, William converted to Islam while attending Houston Community College. Through hard work, he transferred to the University of Houston (Go Coogs!), where he majored in Political Science, Alhamdulilah. In his final semester of college, he worked as a policy intern at CAIR-Houston. For William, Texas is home and is a place of adventure for him and his wife.
In his free time, William enjoys reading history and political science books. He actively trains in martial arts, particularly Brazilian Jujitsu at Gracie Barra. He holds a black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate and a green belt in Japanese Jujitsu.
William believes that Texas is one of the most critical political states in the nation. The vibrant and growing Texas Muslim community has a significant role to play in the future of Texas. Alhamdulilah is excited to be part of the CAIR family and eager to use his role as the Government Affairs Manager for positive change with the help of Allah (SWT).
